Welcome back!
I can be picky about lubes. I don’t often need one but when I do, I want it to be stellar. I had been hearing great things about O’My Original for a long time and I was excited to try it out.
Various members of our household tried this lube in different contexts. We tried it for vaginal intercourse both with and without condoms. We also tried it with a few different sex toys. And finally, Jay tried it for anal penetration with the Pure Pleasure. It delivered every time.
In my opinion, if you are actively noticing a lube, something is probably wrong. Lube should just be. It should facilitate all of the other lovely things that are going on, but it shouldn’t be center stage of an encounter. O’My had this quality for a variety of reasons.
First, we didn’t have to use a lot of it – a few drops and we were set for most tasks. Second, it lasted for ages. When things get going and you have to re-apply lube, that can be a downer. Once O’My was on, it was on, no need to think about it again. Finally, it had a pleasant texture. This is of course an important feature, but one that can be difficult to describe. Once again, the testament is that I wasn’t overtly aware of the texture. It didn’t get sticky and it didn’t make things so slippery that friction was eliminated.
I see now why I’ve heard so many things about O’My Original. It is water-based so it is compatible with any sex toys you own as well as latex condoms. It also is made of ingredients that are all-natural and moisturizing to the skin. Really, if they added some SPF 20 to it, I would use it on my face (I kid!). Definitely give O’My Original a try, you’ll find that it is stunningly similar to your own body’s natural lubrication and works in harmony with it for some sexy and slippery fun.
I was incredibly excited to try out My First Butterfly Vibe. After recording Bedroom Radio #18, I knew we needed to get a hold of a remote control vibrator and this one seemed to be promising. Sadly, this is probably one of the most disappointing toys I have ever tried.
Jay, Ian, and I were taking a break from a pretty intense play session and were putting on our clothes to head out to get a bite to eat. One of the boys suggested that I try the new toy and wear it to the restaurant. So, I slipped it on. The first problem was that slipping it on was not particularly straightforward. There are two elastic loops and some snaps that don’t seem to attach to each other. Nonetheless, I figured out a way to get it to stay in place and slid the shaft into my pussy.
I immediately noticed that it didn’t seem to line up in an effective way. Just as I was putting this thought together, one of the boys turned on the remote. I was much more startled by the noise than by the sensations. This vibrator is really loud but also really weak. It is almost as loud as some massagers that plug into the wall. The noise was almost deafening and there was no way that squeezing my legs together and slipping on a pair of jeans was going to muffle it.
Frustrated, I flung myself on the bed and tried to focus on the minuscule vibrations. Jay and Ian were cracking up watching me wiggle awkwardly and try to position the butterfly. They were also walking through the house trying to figure out how many rooms away they could hear it from. This is when we discovered another flaw, the range on the remote is probably about 8 feet instead of 15-20 as the box advertises. Additionally, the remote seems to work by sending a constant on signal so when the toy is switched on and the remote moves out of range, the toy starts to cut out.
Unfortunately, this toy doesn’t do anything right. Most of the time when I’m not crazy about a toy, I can still imagine it working out for someone else. In the case of My First Butterfly Vibe, I can’t imagine anyone experiencing success with it. I’m sure there are better remote-controlled vibrators on the market and my quest to find one will continue!
Edit: I just got a great tip from Heather at VibeReview that a good alternative may be the Hypersonic Bunny. This one isn’t remote controlled but it does look like a great hands-free option!
The Lovely Rose is a gorgeous dual-stimulation, rabbit-style vibrator. Made of translucent red material, and carved into floral shapes, it looks like something like a fairy wand that you would give a child to play dress-up with. But, it isn’t, it is designed to put inside your cunt and have a good solid orgasm with.
So, how does the Lovely Rose work? The shaft oscillates and revolves to stimulate the G-spot and approximate shallow thrusting while the smaller rosebud nestles against your clit and vibrates. This is a winning combination and the reason that this style of vibrator has become wildly popular. (Okay, so Sex and the City might have had something to do with it, but folks around these parts resent it when you bring that up, so shhhh.)
The important issue with rabbit-style vibrators isn’t the concept, that is already proven. Rather it is the execution. The Lovely Rose just works. First of all, it doesn’t have a creepy animal face on it anywhere. Those have never been a deal breaker for me but if you give me the choice between a flower design and a dolphin one I’ll take the flower every time. There are other websites you can head to if the dolphin is your choice ;)
Second, the Lovely Rose has a successful shape, the shaft is tapered in. So, I found that my pussy gripped it hard and didn’t let go while the head of the shaft was rotating. This was intense and got even more intense when I came. I found that I was so tight around the toy after an orgasm, that I couldn’t even release it instantly and had to wait a few moments for my muscles to relax. This is not a bad thing.
Overall, this toy is a treat. I find myself reaching for the Lovely Rose regularly and I highly recommend it among the rabbit vibes on the market.

The Silver Bullet is a real powerhouse of a vibrator that has me impressed. When I first picked it up I was skeptical. It looked a little flimsy and plain. What could this possibly do next to the impressive and expensive sex toys all around it?
It turns out it can do a whole fuck of a lot. The Silver Bullet is elegant in its simplicity. A pretty vibrating egg attached to a 36 inch cord and a control box. No muss, no fuss. Well, actually a bit of each of those, but in all the best ways.
I am finding myself reaching for the Silver Bullet now at a lot of moments in my life. Getting fucked from behind? Hold it against your clit! Missionary position? No hands needed, the Silver Bullet rests between my body and his. Out to run errands for the day? Slip it into your panties, get dressed and slide the controller into the pocket of your pants.
The vibrations are more powerful than plenty of other toys I’ve played with and I can’t stop coming up with fun and devious uses for this little gem. Of course I’m always open to suggestions.
How would you use the Silver Bullet? (All the gruesome details are more than welcome)
These Door Jam Cuffs don’t look like much out of the package but turned out to be surprisingly functional. They work quite simply without any fussy installation or need for hardware.
A serious bondage enthusiast would probably have more severe and effective restraints in their repertoire but if you are interested in getting started, these cuffs (or something like Under the Bed Restraints) are the perfect accessory. You won’t be able to tie up a fugitive with these but since your participant will be willing and ready (despite their playful protests) no need to worry about that, right?
The cuffs are made of a soft material and fasten with simple Velcro closures. While they aren’t meant to hold up your body weight, they will take on a fair amount of it if your knees get a bit weak. They can be used on either wrists or ankles – in fact, using two sets at once isn’t the worst idea!
One drawback of these that I noticed right away was that the way they hang over the door jam doesn’t actually do anything to stop the wearer from slipping their wrists toward each other. In addition to the fact that they are Velcro, this makes them exceedingly simple to get out of.
However, this criticism is only leveled in comparison to more serious bondage implements. These Door Jam Cuffs definitely fall in the very playful category and will function effectively, dare I even say joyously, for a variety of exploits you might think of. Mine are staying right in their place over the bedroom door for any impromptu play that I come up with.
I had been waiting to try the Snugglepuss for awhile. I read tons of rave reviews. I love dual stimulation toys and this one looked particularly interesting. The Snugglepuss from Vibe Review is designed to be a hands-free toy, the larger portion is inserted and rests against the G-spot while the small part sits on the clit.
Once the toy is properly inserted, here is where the magic begins. The hing of the toy opens and this creates the connection for the vibrator to go on. Neat, huh? The vibrations are steady although relatively sedate and the toy stays put well. I could imagine wearing the Snugglepuss while standing and moving around and having it function effectively. In fact, I’m wearing it right now while I sit at my computer and write this review.
Merely squeezing my kegels or wiggling in my chair a bit can shift the toy just enough to create some variation in the stimulation. In fact, I can see myself being able to kegel my way to a very nice orgasm.
Despite this convenience, I’m not crazy about the Snugglepuss as a toy for getting off with. I can think of some very nice applications for this toy for teasing a partner (or unruly submissive) but it seems like the sort of plaything best suited for foreplay over delivering intense orgasms.
The reasons for this are straight-forward. The vibrations are not particularly intense and the fact that the toy has to stay in a pretty static position means that they can get a bit numbing after awhile. Likewise, the G-spot stimulation is pleasant but won’t push you over the edge without some significant rocking or use of hands.
I’ve tried using the Snugglepuss in a variety of positions and each yielded similar results. Combined with some spanking or teasing, having this toy shoved in my cunt certainly turned me on. But, I don’t find myself lusting for the Snugglepuss to push me over the edge. The orgasms I’ve experienced with it have been lackluster and a lot of trouble. My best experience with it so far has been when I used it to get very aroused and then got properly fucked.
Do I hate the Snugglepuss? Absolutely not, I can think of many things that I like about it and occasions where it may come in handy. Is it the hands-free orgasm machine that some people describe it as? Not in my experience.
I tried out the i-Lube in a recent episode of Bedroom Radio and wanted to report in more detail on my findings about it.
First of all, this is a silicone-based lubricant which comes with both advantages and disadvantages. I’ll start with the most clear downside. Silicone lubes can’t be used with silicone sex toys because they react with the material and can degrade it. We’re not talking science fair reaction here, but you will come back to your favorite dildo later and it will look like it has a flesh-eating virus. Now, you could put a condom on your toy to use it with a silicone lube, but I personally wouldn’t chance it. I make sure that all of my treasured toys are out of the way before a bust out a lube like this.
Of course there are lots of things that I put in my pussy that I like to have lubed up and that aren’t made out of silicone. Cocks spring to mind (story of my life!) and also gorgeous glass toys (more on that later). So, what are some of the positives of a silicone lube? The slipperiness is not like what you’ve felt before. The active ingredient in them is dimethicone which is almost a powdery slip instead of a wet one. This can be a really sexy sensation and can be effective for a variety of purposes.
So what about i-Lube? I have to say that I have not tried many silicone lubes before but compared to Eros Bodyglide, it doesn’t hold a candle. I found that it seemed to wear off quickly and get a bit sticky. As far as I am concerned, that means it is a blend of the worst things about silicone lube and the worst things about water-based lubes.
Now, all of these potions have different formulas and I’m not a chemist but I wonder if perhaps iLube skimps on the dimethicone a bit compared to some of the other silicone lube manufacturers? I am only speculating on it though. For now, this lube will be used in a limited setting – I see it being a nice way to create a bit of slipperiness on my clit if I’m in a pinch but I wouldn’t use it to grease up the works for anal or hardcore fucking.

In this episode I have some fun playing with the Pure Pleasure glass dildo from VibeReview and the i-Lube personal silicone lubricant.
