I haven’t played with many massagers before but word on the street is that the Miracle Massager is the toy to beat.
First off, aesthetics. I’m not the biggest fan of the color scheme; red and black seems a bit crass (well lots of things seem crass when paired with black, I’m not sure why). Of course colors seem irrelevant when you take into consideration the fact that this is an item that will be buried between my legs. If I’ve played my cards right and have a friend along to help, I can reliably close my eyes and pay little attention to anything except the vibrations. And oh does this vibrate.
Now, I’m a fan of subtle vibrations. This is subtle like a rock between the eyes. For me, something like the Miracle Massager feels like cheating because I can get off in just a few minutes. You might be thinking that isn’t such a bad thing. You are probably right.
Plus, there are a lot of good other good uses for this toy. The curved handle actually makes it good as a back massager (stop snickering, I’m serious!) The excellent vibrations are strong enough to conduct vibrations through other materials (I’m thinking crotch rope). Also, it plugs into your wall instead of eating up batteries. I wish the cord was a bit longer but I have no idea how it stacks up against other massagers on the market.
I did not try the Miracle Massager all by itself, though. I also got a chance to test it out with the Miracle Massager Attachment that is sold separately. My feelings about this attachment are somewhat conflicted. On the one hand, I experienced amazing orgasms with it. The shape of the attachment is perfect for stimulating my clit and my g-spot at the same time. Without needing to do any thrusting I was able to get off in a few minutes.
With an endorsement like that, what could possible be wrong, right? Well, first of all, I’m not sure that the attachment was actually designed for the Miracle Massager. It fits on and stays but is sort of wobbly. I tried it out on a friend’s Hitachi Magic Wand and it fit like a glove. I wonder if it was designed for that toy originally? This isn’t a very serious problem as I haven’t had any issue with the attachment actually falling off.
My biggest complaint is that it is made out of jelly rubber PVC and is not pthalate-free. For this reason it has that tell-tale chemically smell. While I usually opt for phlalate-free toys, the ones I have always get covered on condoms. There is no conclusive information about whether these materials are harmful but I prefer to play it safe.
So, this presents a dilemma. Indeed, the attachment is shaped remarkably well and really increases the utility of the Miracle Massager. I also think that the price for the attachment is quite modest. I desperately wish it was made out of another material but nothing is completely perfect. I still plan to play with it on a regular basis because it works so well.

The first strap-on harness I ever bought was pink and sparkly. It also didn’t fit very well. So, as pretty as it was, I knew I needed a new one. And I knew it had to be gorgeous and femme. I was so lucky to find the Corsette Harness.
The Corsette is a complete package. I was so impressed with the items that came with it in the box. First of all, it features a vibrator pocket and comes with a small bullet vibe complete with batteries. Second, because the Corsette is a lot like a piece of lingerie, it comes with garters to attach your prettiest stockings to. Finally, it is equipped with three different sizes of O-rings so no matter what sort of toy you choose to slide into it, it will work like a charm.
This harness comes in both black and purple and I chose the purple model. The fabric is a beautiful, rich velvet with a wonderful texture. It feels great against my skin and wonderful to the touch. I spent a long time in the mirror evaluating the shape of my ass and the way the straps cut against my curves. At the risk of sounding like a narcissist, I look hot in this thing and I was excited to try it out with a partner.
Actual use will thrusting is the test of any harness and The Corsette stood up like a champ. The straps on it go under the legs as well as around the waist and it can be tightened down and adjusted very intuitively using three different buckles. I find that I’m able to get into it and have it secure and ready to go in a matter of minutes.
I tried it out first with Jay and later the next week with Carmine. Both times I used the lovely Charmer and both times I had a ton of fun! The vibrator pocket lines up perfectly, the harness stayed secure no matter how serious the thrusting got and both gentlemen were enthusiastic about the performance.
Overall, I’m impressed with the look, feel, and performance of this harness. My old one never felt quite sturdy enough to really get down to business with and so I rarely used it. Now, I think I’ll find many more occasions to strap one on and have some fun.

I have heard this statistic quoted about the city I live in but I’ve never been able to track down a concrete source for it. Apparently we have the largest number of porn stores per capita of anywhere in the US. I do know exactly where to go 24 hours a day for a wide variety of porn DVDs, sex toys, and stripper clothes. I’ve educated myself on quality in regards to these products and I know what to look for. The selection of silicone toys at these shops is very limited and the employees rarely know what they are talking about. In fact, I once had to educate a sex shop employee on the dangers of anal numbing creams. She looked at me and said, “It doesn’t matter because anal sex is unnatural and wrong anyway.” Um, okay.
I’ve often fantasized about opening my own sex shop but as I don’t plan to stay in this town for the long haul. Today I was thinking a lot about my personal history with sex toys and women-run sex shops and I’m so grateful for the education I’ve received from these businesses. I owned my first vibrator before I lost my virginity. I don’t remember where I bought it. It was simple, hard plastic, and purple. I actually just tossed it out a few weeks ago as it finally broke.
This first sex toy purchase was from an anonymous online retailer. My next ones were from wonderful ones. I can thank Babeland for that. When I was 19 years old (and very much still a virgin) I did something brave. I was working at a summer camp in Vermont and there was a weekend off between sessions. I bought myself a ticket to New York and booked a room in a hostel and I spent a weekend exploring the city all by myself. I walked into Babeland for the first time with my only previous experience of sex shops being, well, somewhat skeezy.
I didn’t buy anything that day but I touched lots of things. I picked up toys and held them in my hands and felt the vibrations and the textures. I looked at lubes and books. I felt totally comfortable. I think I even asked a question or two when a helpful employee asked if I needed help. I was hooked on this experience.
Within a year of this trip I had my first boyfriend, it was the relationship I was in when this blog first started. We shopped for sex toys together over the phone as he lived a few hours away from me. It was something that connected us, helped us discover fantasies, and brought us closer together. Our first purchases were things like lubes, strap-on harnesses, and dildos. We bought them from Babeland and Good Vibrations.
Now I make a point of visiting these shops whenever I visit a town that has them. I bought my first restraints and my first rabbit vibrator from Early to Bed in Chicago. I always go back to Babeland when I’m in New York, last time we bought a massage candle and a bonger. This is not the stuff I find at the 24-hour porn stores.
Now, years later, I find myself in an interesting position because I have learned enough about quality sex toys that I’m invited to review them. I’m thrilled with the dedication to quality reviews and honest opinions that both Vibe Review and Eden Fantasys have shown so far. When I wrote my first bad review of a product I was worried but I knew I needed to be honest. To have the rep at the company that sent it to me be thrilled with my honesty and suggest other products to try instead was really impressive.
Sure, these folks are trying to make money running their businesses but there is also a genuine interest in finding out the truth about quality sex toys. Quality doesn’t come cheap and I admire all of these businesses for stepping into the community and trying to educate their potential customers.
I’ve just gotten word today that Vibe Review is running a special. In celebration of their support for Barack Obama for president, they are offering a 10% discount. Just shop through this link and you will automatically get 10% off of your entire order between now and November. So, a sex shop that cares about women and sexual pleasure, looks for honest reviews, and supports my favorite candidate for president? I’m proud to support them and recommend them to you.

This might come as a shock to some of you but up until this point in my life, I had never tried anal beads. Honestly, the ones I had seen before always seemed sort of, well, gross. Then I saw the Bendybeads - finally a set of anal beads I can imagine putting in my ass!
I tried these beads for the first time by myself and expect them to be a regular part of my sex life from now on. They are functional, the shape is pleasant and they are high quality.
Bendybeads are made by Fun Factory, one of my favorite sex toy manufacturers. All of their toys are high quality and made of 100% medical grade silicone. I know I’ve extolled the virtues of silicone before, but when it comes to anal toys, silicone is even more important. Silicone toys can be completely sterilized by boiling them and therefore can be shared between partners without any worry about the spread of bacteria. Silicone is also a neutral material that will not cause allergic reactions or irritation and can be used with water-based lubes (I used Astroglide). Basically, if you want something in your butt, it should be silicone.
The Bendybeads are a real treat. They aren’t attached by any sort of string, and rather the toy is one continual piece of material. The sizes increase gradually and you can insert them all the way or just a bit and experience significant pleasure. I also found that the handle of the beads was an excellent place to slide a small bullet vibrator. This conducted vibration all the way down the shaft of the beads even though I only had a few inserted.
This toy is a real treasure because it leaves you with so many options. The beads can be thrust in and out or left in place. They can be the main attraction of play or something you are doing while simultaneously stimulating yourself or a partner in another way. The sensations are intense and delicious because the shape is so expertly created.
I can be picky about lubes. I don’t often need one but when I do, I want it to be stellar. I had been hearing great things about O’My Original for a long time and I was excited to try it out.
Various members of our household tried this lube in different contexts. We tried it for vaginal intercourse both with and without condoms. We also tried it with a few different sex toys. And finally, Jay tried it for anal penetration with the Pure Pleasure. It delivered every time.
In my opinion, if you are actively noticing a lube, something is probably wrong. Lube should just be. It should facilitate all of the other lovely things that are going on, but it shouldn’t be center stage of an encounter. O’My had this quality for a variety of reasons.
First, we didn’t have to use a lot of it - a few drops and we were set for most tasks. Second, it lasted for ages. When things get going and you have to re-apply lube, that can be a downer. Once O’My was on, it was on, no need to think about it again. Finally, it had a pleasant texture. This is of course an important feature, but one that can be difficult to describe. Once again, the testament is that I wasn’t overtly aware of the texture. It didn’t get sticky and it didn’t make things so slippery that friction was eliminated.
I see now why I’ve heard so many things about O’My Original. It is water-based so it is compatible with any sex toys you own as well as latex condoms. It also is made of ingredients that are all-natural and moisturizing to the skin. Really, if they added some SPF 20 to it, I would use it on my face (I kid!). Definitely give O’My Original a try, you’ll find that it is stunningly similar to your own body’s natural lubrication and works in harmony with it for some sexy and slippery fun.
I was incredibly excited to try out My First Butterfly Vibe. After recording Bedroom Radio #18, I knew we needed to get a hold of a remote control vibrator and this one seemed to be promising. Sadly, this is probably one of the most disappointing toys I have ever tried.
Jay, Ian, and I were taking a break from a pretty intense play session and were putting on our clothes to head out to get a bite to eat. One of the boys suggested that I try the new toy and wear it to the restaurant. So, I slipped it on. The first problem was that slipping it on was not particularly straightforward. There are two elastic loops and some snaps that don’t seem to attach to each other. Nonetheless, I figured out a way to get it to stay in place and slid the shaft into my pussy.
I immediately noticed that it didn’t seem to line up in an effective way. Just as I was putting this thought together, one of the boys turned on the remote. I was much more startled by the noise than by the sensations. This vibrator is really loud but also really weak. It is almost as loud as some massagers that plug into the wall. The noise was almost deafening and there was no way that squeezing my legs together and slipping on a pair of jeans was going to muffle it.
Frustrated, I flung myself on the bed and tried to focus on the minuscule vibrations. Jay and Ian were cracking up watching me wiggle awkwardly and try to position the butterfly. They were also walking through the house trying to figure out how many rooms away they could hear it from. This is when we discovered another flaw, the range on the remote is probably about 8 feet instead of 15-20 as the box advertises. Additionally, the remote seems to work by sending a constant on signal so when the toy is switched on and the remote moves out of range, the toy starts to cut out.
Unfortunately, this toy doesn’t do anything right. Most of the time when I’m not crazy about a toy, I can still imagine it working out for someone else. In the case of My First Butterfly Vibe, I can’t imagine anyone experiencing success with it. I’m sure there are better remote-controlled vibrators on the market and my quest to find one will continue!
Edit: I just got a great tip from Heather at VibeReview that a good alternative may be the Hypersonic Bunny. This one isn’t remote controlled but it does look like a great hands-free option!
The Lovely Rose is a gorgeous dual-stimulation, rabbit-style vibrator. Made of translucent red material, and carved into floral shapes, it looks like something like a fairy wand that you would give a child to play dress-up with. But, it isn’t, it is designed to put inside your cunt and have a good solid orgasm with.
So, how does the Lovely Rose work? The shaft oscillates and revolves to stimulate the G-spot and approximate shallow thrusting while the smaller rosebud nestles against your clit and vibrates. This is a winning combination and the reason that this style of vibrator has become wildly popular. (Okay, so Sex and the City might have had something to do with it, but folks around these parts resent it when you bring that up, so shhhh.)
The important issue with rabbit-style vibrators isn’t the concept, that is already proven. Rather it is the execution. The Lovely Rose just works. First of all, it doesn’t have a creepy animal face on it anywhere. Those have never been a deal breaker for me but if you give me the choice between a flower design and a dolphin one I’ll take the flower every time. There are other websites you can head to if the dolphin is your choice ;)
Second, the Lovely Rose has a successful shape, the shaft is tapered in. So, I found that my pussy gripped it hard and didn’t let go while the head of the shaft was rotating. This was intense and got even more intense when I came. I found that I was so tight around the toy after an orgasm, that I couldn’t even release it instantly and had to wait a few moments for my muscles to relax. This is not a bad thing.
Overall, this toy is a treat. I find myself reaching for the Lovely Rose regularly and I highly recommend it among the rabbit vibes on the market.

To hear a live review of this toy, listen to Bedroom Radio #18.
The Silver Bullet is a real powerhouse of a vibrator that has me impressed. When I first picked it up I was skeptical. It looked a little flimsy and plain. What could this possibly do next to the impressive and expensive sex toys all around it?
It turns out it can do a whole fuck of a lot. The Silver Bullet is elegant in its simplicity. A pretty vibrating egg attached to a 36 inch cord and a control box. No muss, no fuss. Well, actually a bit of each of those, but in all the best ways.
I am finding myself reaching for the Silver Bullet now at a lot of moments in my life. Getting fucked from behind? Hold it against your clit! Missionary position? No hands needed, the Silver Bullet rests between my body and his. Out to run errands for the day? Slip it into your panties, get dressed and slide the controller into the pocket of your pants.
The vibrations are more powerful than plenty of other toys I’ve played with and I can’t stop coming up with fun and devious uses for this little gem. Of course I’m always open to suggestions.
How would you use the Silver Bullet? (All the gruesome details are more than welcome)

If you've wondered what it would be like to get me on the phone, no need to wonder anymore!
