Have you gotten any closer to pulling this kind of party together? It sounds like lots of fun! You haven't seen me since I cut off all my hair, have you? We need to get together... make-out party or not.

Updates please. I'm curious as to how his worked out. Most of the "makeout parties" I have been to hadn't been planned that way. They just sort of happpened to turn into it. Also, I have heard of cuddle parties, a number of people I know having organised and/or attended them, so how much different would planning this have been from those? Orgies on the other hand are much easier to plan because everyone knows what to expect.

I still haven't pulled it together but I'm trying! - ellie

I LOVE this idea! Maybe you could have an icebreaker like playing Twister in your underwear or eating cupcake icing off of each other's body parts. Drinks are a must and having a drinking game or two or three can really get a few of the shy ones to open up more and the not so shy ones to get their beer goggles all fogged up. Oh, and I would recommend supplying mouthwash in the bathroom and lots of pen and paper so people can exchange phone numbers.

Careful planning and possible screening of invites can greatly improve the event. Keeping a good ratio of compatible partners helps prevent the ‘third-wheel’ feeling. Mixing true les/gay with straights is always an odd thing. Assuming all are straight or bi, dividing by sex and swapping partners every so often is fun. Just make it random and part of the fun. (bowl of keys is cool – all men toss their keys in a hidden bowl and then the women pull keys to find their ‘date’).

great idea-really revolutionary! Keep it fun, keep it exciting and slightly forbidden, and serve great food. Food is intimate--asparagus and dips, soups, homemade bread with dipping sauce, and garlic for everyone so that breath mints are equal-opportunity!

If you want to set it up like a sex party, just with different limits, some thoughts:

I would consider having a set start time, after which the doors are closed. A constant stream of arriving people who are not yet in the mood can keep there from being a mood to get into. At the least, state explicitly on the invitation that people should try to be there by 8 (or whatever) for introductions and Spin The Bottle.

Corny icebreakers work surprisingly well at this kind of party, especially if they can be adapted to involve potential kissing. My theory is that on the one hand, everyone knowing everyone else's name is actually helpful, and on the other hand, everyone having seen that everyone *else* is willing to sit still for the corny icebreaker helps clear away some doubts about whether the other guests are really into it or just there to be social. (Otherwise, those doubts can paralyze a lot of people.)

These are some great suggestions. The time restriction seems totally logical and something that I never would have thought of. - ellie
