Dating, it seems to me, is an activity that's going out of style for some reason.

I have friends in high school and college (which used to be where dating was heaviest) that tell me that the ritual of a young man nervously approaching (or phoning) a prospective partner and asking for the honor of her company just doesn't happen anymore.

You're right. I've been waiting for Chip to ask me to the sock hop for ages. . . I guess it just isn't happening ;) - ellie

All I know about dating is that if you get lobster, you have to fuck him. Steak is at least a handjob.

LMAO! Dammit, now I know what I've been doing wrong!

What are you going to be doing on your date, do you know?

Who said feminism was dead? I don't actually have a date - this is more of a pre-emptive research process. - ellie

I haven't dated much either. It has been a string of meeting people at school/work/internet/parties, hitting it off with them and then fucking. Later a relationship is formed... or not.

All I know about dating is that if you get lobster, you have to fuck him. Steak is at least a handjob.

Seriously though, to my knowledge dating is pretty passe. I mean people obviously still date, but the rules have been rewritten too many times. You have the modern "Coffee Date", where you go out to coffee with someone you got the number from at a club/party/bar/office/class and find out if they are a psycho. Pretty much you want an easy way out if it isn't working out and an easy way for you to continue things if it is working out.

A drink or coffee is proposed and from then you can go to dinner or a movie. I find a great way to find out if someone is worth my time is coffee and then touring around a bookstore. Flirting over bookshelves is a necessary skill.

Going from an early drink or coffee to a movie can be a good buffer too.

Then again I have been living with a girl for a year so my knowledge of dating is limited.

Yeah, I had figured the short amount of time thing out. No sense planning a whole day with someone I might not like. Thanks for the tips. - ellie
